Château Saint Ange is much more than an address; it is a true meeting point between heaven and earth. Located south of Draguignan on the mythical Col de l’Ange, our estate is inscribed within a unique geography.
While the town of Draguignan derives its name from the legend of the Dragon slain by Saint Hermentaire, our district is dedicated to the Angels — timeless symbols of light, purity, and protection. Crossing the pass to arrive at the castle is to begin an ascent toward a preserved sanctuary, far from the tumult, under the benevolent gaze of history.
17th-Century Roots: the bread oven and raw stone
The soul of Château Saint Ange draws its strength from rare historic remains. Long before the current country house stood, the site was already a vibrant place of life and sharing. Bearing witness to this past, our 17th-century traditional bread oven is the beating heart of the estate. Every year, it is brought back into service, reviving ancestral gestures and the warm aroma of burning wood—true symbols of Provençal conviviality.
Our walls, built from limestone extracted directly on-site, tell their own story. From our vaulted cellar where our wines mature today to the traditional paved stone terraces (calades), every single architectural element has been painstakingly preserved to celebrate the ‘qualitative simplicity’ that is so dear to us.
The architect’s vision
In 1975, the estate reached a major turning point with the construction of the current bastide layout. A niçois architect, deeply in love with painting and nature, decided to create his personal haven of peace here. It was during this period that the estate took on its present structure:
The workshop of Light – ESPACE CEZANNE : a grand room with monumental glass windows, perfectly designed for painting while facing the olive trees.
The 240 m² greenhouse: a spectacular glass structure built out of love for a passionate orchid enthusiast.
At the time, the estate lived in perfect harmony with the land, hosting farm animals and varied crops. It was also during this decade that the majority of our 1,000 olive trees and our vines were planted, shaping the 12-hectare landscape that you admire today.
2022-2023: A passionate restoration project
In 2022, Jean-Philippe Victor acquired the estate. Enamored with stone architecture and backed by his extensive winemaking expertise, he undertook the challenge of bringing this hidden gem back to life. The mission was: restore without distorting.
The extensive work transformed the bastide into an exceptional reception venue while preserving its original historic aesthetic. The 8 prestige rooms (including 1 suite) were masterfully planned to offer absolute comfort to our guests during their events, while faithfully respecting the ‘country-chic’ aesthetic of the venue.

We do not offer individual nightly rentals, nor are we a standard bed-and-breakfast (gîte) or guest house table; we are the guardians of a historical heritage that we entrust to you through complete, exclusive privatization so that you too can feel ‘alone in the world’ inside the living history of Provence.
